The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition is back at Sussex for 2023! The final will take place on Thursday 08 June, as part of the Doctoral School’s Festival of Doctoral Research.
3MT is an academic competition developed by the University of Queensland that challenges doctoral researchers to describe their research in only three minutes to a general audience.
We are currently accepting expressions of interest from Sussex doctoral researchers in their second year or beyond who would like to participate.
There are lots of reasons to get involved:
- Develop your communication and presentation skills, and grow in confidence
- Network with other doctoral researchers and discuss your work
- An opportunity to focus on the core message and impact of your research
- 1st Prize: £500 towards research and a place in Vitae’s UK semi-final
Interested in participating?
If you’re interested in getting involved, complete our short online expression of interest form and visit our 3MT webpages for full eligibility criteria and further information.
This year, the competition will take place in person and participants cannot present virtually. You must be able to attend the training and peer practice sessions on campus, as well as the final itself.
The deadline to submit the expression of interest form is Friday 21 April 2023.
